FORBIDDEN FILMS
The hidden legacy of Nazi film
Currently we are preparing Felix Moeller’s cinema documentary FORBIDDEN FILMS.
The documentary will examine the notorious banned Nazi films and their ideological messages.
1,200 feature films were made in Germany’s Third Reich.
According to experts, some 100 of these are blatant propaganda.
More than 40 remain – nearly seventy years after the end of the Nazi regime – under lock and key.
Unknown film footage will be shown. Experts, film historians, descendants of the film stars at the time and today’s viewers will give their opinion.
Shooting in Germany, France, England and Israel.
Supported by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and FFF Bayern.
Co-production with Arte/RBB.

Commemorating the 10th anniversary of the world-famous German Actress Hildegard Knef the RBB is broadcasting the documentary from Felix Moeller on February 2nd, 2012 at 0.10 a.m.

In October 2011 the new novel from Julia Franck has been published. Therefore the RBB will broadcast our portrait from 2009 of the German Writer.
It will be shown on December 18th at 11 pm.

The German Film und Medienbewertung (FBW) has awarded SMALL WORLD the rating "Highly recommended" ("Prädikat besonders wertvoll" ). The jury said: "We see the excellent Gerard Depardieu in a completely different role. Also Alexandra Maria Lara incarnates her role brilliantly, along with other great actors. The directing as well as the leading of the actors are exquisit. The jury unanimously decided to award the picture the highest rating, both as literary adaption and as a work with an original artistic character."

JULIA FRANCK
Daniela Schmidt-Langels’ portray of one of the most important representatives of German literature today has been awarded the JULIANE BARTEL MEDIEN AWARD. The Jury said: „The film not only shows important moments of her life – it also tells almost casually a piece of East-West German History and gives the audience an understanding of the life situation in those two worlds at the time.” The award which is granted by the Ministry of Social Affairs of Lower Saxony recognizes the creative debate of the filmmaker on how women and their life situation is reflected in the media today.

SMALL WORLD release on December 16
The French-German adaption of Martin Suter’s homonymous bestselling novel is going to be released theatrically in Germany on December 16, 2010 by Majestic (release in German speaking Switzerland on December 23). MARTIN SUTER about the movie: “SMALL WOLRD has deeply touched me – more than the novel actually, of course also because I’ve written the novel myself. I found the movie very elegant, it’s real cinema!” The World Premiere takes place within the Week of French Cinema in Berlin on December 1 in the presence of the director Bruno Chiche and the main cast.

Successful Broadcast of HARLAN – IN THE SHADOW OF THE JEW SÜSS
The first broadcast of Felix Moeller’s cinema documentary on German TV (WDR and RBB) on September 23 and 30 was accompanied by large press feedback. On RBB the film achieved an excellent audience rating of 11.4 %. HARLAN will be broadcasted again on November 16 at 11:45 p.m. on NDR.

German writer has been nominated for the Juliane Bartel Media Award 2010.

Zeitgeist Films has acquired US rights of Queen to Play.
The film will be released in the US beginning of 2011.

Harlan – In the Shadow of The Jew Süss will be broadcasted for the first time on September 23, 2010 at 23:15H on WDR
and on September 30, 2010 at 23:30H on RBB.

Queen to Play (Joueuse)
The movie is based on the successful novel of the same title by Bertina Henrichs, starring Sandrine Bonnaire and Kevin Kline. "Queen to Play" is the opening film of the Französische Filmtage 2009. It will be screened on October 29th at 7.30 p.m. at the Kino Museum, Tübingen. Sandrine Bonnaire and the director Caroline Bottaro will attend the screening.

Julia Franck
Julia Franck is one of the key female writers in new German literature and winner of the German Book Prize for her novel "Die Mittagsfrau". The film links her personal biography with key moments in her work and also tells a piece of east-west German History.
The Film will be screened at the Frankfurt Book Fair on October 16th 2009 at 4 p.m. Filmmaker Daniela Schmidt-Langels will give an introduction.
